An eSIM (short for embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card embedded in certain mobile devices. It allows you to activate a plan with a phone number without the need for a physical SIM card.

What is Dual SIM?
Dual SIM gives you two phone numbers on one smartphone for calling and texting (SMS and MMS). For example, you can have separate home and work numbers, or add a second line when traveling internationally.
The two phone numbers can be on the same account, on different accounts, or on different carriers (for example, a Bell Mobility line and an international carrier line).
The Dual SIM service is offered through a combination of a physical SIM card and an eSIM.

How do I configure my Dual SIM device to use both lines at the same time?

- Under General, make sure your software has been updated to iOS 13.0 or later.

- The default names for the phone lines are "Primary" and "Secondary". To create your own labels, go to Settings > Cellular or Cellular on your iPhone. For example, you can name your rows Work and Home or whatever.
- Use these labels when choosing which phone number to use to make or receive calls and text messages, to set a mobile data number, and to assign a number to your contacts so they know which number to use when calling or texting.
If I have a data plan on both lines, what data plan will I use and will I be charged?
- Both lines can support data plans, but only one number can use mobile data at a time. If you want your iPhone to use cellular data from both plans based on coverage and availability, turn on Allow cellular data sharing.
- Your data usage is on the line you assign as the preferred line in your iPhone's cellular settings. You can switch to your other line at any time within these settings. Can I use data during a call?
- Yes, if you enable Allow mobile data exchange, this number will automatically switch to use voice and data on your voice-only number during a voice call. This allows you to use voice and data during the call.
- However, if you disable Allow mobile data exchange and make a call using a voice number other than the designated mobile data number, mobile data will not work during the call.
- You can also access Wi-Fi on both lines, no matter which line you choose for your data usage.

How will I be charged for voice and messaging services?
- Voice and messages are charged according to the rate of the line used for each activity. Dual SIM allows you to choose which line you want to use for each call and text message.
Note: Simultaneous voice calls may incur data charges.
What happens while roaming?
- Just as you can choose which line to call, text or use data while in Canada, you can do the same when roaming. Note: You will receive your Bell roam notifications for both lines in the same message thread. It is important to pay attention to the line indicator (Line 1 or Line 2) in the message thread to know which line you are roaming on, especially if you have different roaming capabilities on each line.
- Data roaming charges may apply if both lines are used for simultaneous voice calls.
Does E9-1-1 and T9-1-1 work on both lines?
- Both lines have the option of dialing 9-1-1. When E9-1-1 is available, the caller's number and approximate location will be provided, regardless of the line used.
- Enabling Wi-Fi Calling on both lines affects calls to 9-1-1. If you call 9-1-1 from Line 1 and your phone is disconnected and you receive another call on Line 2, you will not receive a notification when the 9-1-1 operator calls you back.

How do I access my voicemail with Dual SIM on an iPhone?
The voicemail message waiting indicator, shown as a red dot on the voicemail icon, indicates that you have received an unheard voicemail message from your primary line. The secondary line does not have a voicemail message waiting indicator.
To search for voicemail messages on your secondary line:
- Change the dial pad to the secondary line.

How can I find out what phone number I'm using?
After activating your second eSIM line, you will receive a message on your device recommending that you create a separate label for each line. To do this, follow these steps:

- Tap the pencil icon next to the tag you want to edit.
- Enter the new designation.
When you make and receive calls and send and receive text messages, your smartphone identifies each line by the name you choose. Supported apps also display different colors for each row.
